Your Travel Calendar: Where To Visit Each Month of The Year

Now that we are able to travel the world once more, many people are booking holidays abroad so that they can get a little taste of the world they were cut off from for so long. Booking travel can be costly, and the preparation can take up a lot of your time, so it’s vital to get the maximum possible enjoyment out of wherever you travel. There are visas to find out about, appointments to book, accommodation to scout out, a charter jet to organize, suitcases to pack, and passports to renew. All that planning could be wasted if you don’t know which times of the year it’s best to visit which locations; no one wants to be swarmed with tourists when trying to take in a beautiful piece of art or relax on a golden beach, do they? Well, lucky for you, we have a travel calendar all planned out for you to take advantage of! Let’s take a look at where in the world you should travel to every month of the year.

January

Uganda

Though Uganda is never really completely dry, January is part of the dry (ish) season in this stunning country. Most people who travel to this mountainous, green land want to have an encounter with mountain gorillas, and January is an ideal time for that as the forest and jungles are slightly more passable. Around 700 of these soulful creatures can be found in Uganda, and more than half of them live in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

February

New Orleans-USA

While February is a miserable month in most places in the Northern Hemisphere, New Orleans takes a deep breath in and comes alive at that time of year. The weather is perfect, not so humid that you’re soaked stepping out the door, but not freezing cold like the rest of the country either. February is the month of Mardi Gras, so if you’re looking for peace and quiet on your trip, you’d do well to look somewhere else.

March

Vietnam

March is peak season in Vietnam, but there are so many quiet hidey holes and beaches that look entirely untouched by modern man that you can seek our relaxation if that’s what you need. You’re undoubtedly wanting to hit the beach, so good places to check out will be Mui Ne, Con Dao, and Nha Trang because the weather will be excellent. The famous and exquisite Ha Long Bay will offer up some of the clearest blue skies you’ll see in Vietnam all year with minimal chance of rain.

April

Tokyo- Japan

Most travelers who go to Japan wish to see the incredible display that the native Cherry Blossom trees put on, and April is unquestionably the best time for that. The trees begin their captivating show in Tokyo, then slowly, the rest of the country becomes carpeted in baby pink petals. Be aware that this bloom does shift from year to year, depending on the local weather.

May

The Algarve, Portugal

Spring is the perfect time to experience the wonders of the Algarve before the rest of the tourists arrive in summer swarms. The days are long, lazy, and filled with glorious sun, and the nights are filled with conversation, the clinking of glasses and firelight playing over tanned skin. The coastline of the Algarve is incomparable, and you’ll have much more of it to yourself than if you travel even a month later.

June

Zambia

If you want to go on a safari, the perfect time to do that is in Africa’s Autumn and Winter months. If you really want to get up close and personal with the flora and fauna that this wild continent has to offer, why not try a walking safari in Zambia? The first ever walking safari was held here, and it really is the best way to immerse yourself completely in the life buzzing all around you.

July

Stockholm- Sweden

There’s nothing as fresh and invigorating as a Swedish summer. While the weather is (thankfully, in our opinion) not nearly as hot as summers in other places, the Swedes turn out en masse to appreciate the mild days and nights. There’s an incredible amount of exciting city life to check out, but there is also lake swimming and kayaking to be done not far from the city.

August

Turquoise Coast- Turkey

If you love the ocean, then August in Turkey is going to be your ultimate dream holiday. Book one of the many traditional gület, or twin-masted sailboats that bob along the coastline and explore the crystal clear waters and the exquisite, almost Mediterranean coast.

September

Ibiza- Spain

If you like to party but don’t like to be in the thick of things all the time, then take a trip to Ibiza in September. While there are still a number of worthwhile season closing parties to attend, it’s far easier to find accommodation, a spot on a non-overcrowded beach, and a decent table for lunch. It’s the perfect time to explore the island and cut loose at the same time.

Bicycle

October

Jordan

If you want to survive a desert holiday, timing is everything. Autumn temperatures in Jordan top out at around 27ºC/81ºF, which is tolerable compared to the summer. If you want to visit Petra and revel in the ancient beauty of the caves, now is the time to do it.

November

New Zealand

Though many travelers would disagree with us on this one, we stand by our advice to travel to that beautiful country in October. The South Island offers some diverting activities for thrill seekers and those looking for a little R&R, and the North Island is overflowing with idyllic beaches and hot springs for soaking tired bones.

December

Patagonia- South America

We round off our year of travel with a place for the intrepid explorers among us- wild and wonderful Patagonia. Prep your hiking gear and pack your sleeping bag for this one; you’ll need them! Get as close as you can to the wild lands in the Torres del Paine National Park; you won’t regret it.

Wrap Up

We’ve sorted your travel plans; all you need to do is pack and book the tickets!
