Mile 6 of Pettyjohn Cave is a force to the intense restrictions of the cave, The Outer Boundaries was pushed, then the discovery and study of the Discovery Place and up coming the study of Schreiber’s Extension.

August 10, 1975 – Richard Schreiber, Marion Smith and a team from Massachusetts and Connecticut carried sections of a scaling pole to the Emerald Pool and Warren Heller climbed up but very little was gained.
August 23, 1981 – Richard Schreiber, Dwight Drennan, Wesley Sprunger, Pete Uberto and Keith Lynn returned to the Emerald Pool and bolted up the wall or employed a rope remaining from the pole climb. They uncovered the Discovery Room following climbing higher and a few limited squeezes.
